IGCP-724 group attended 15th General Assembly of Asian Seismological Commission
IGCP-724 group leaders Ying Li and Galip Yuce attended 15th General Assembly of Asian Seismological Commission during the November 3-7 in Belek, Antalya, Türkiye. A special session involving fluid geochemistry and earthquake forecasting was set up initiated by the IGCP-724 project. Ying Li and Galip Yuce were both the conveners.
Galip Yuce made a presentation entitled “Recognition of expected and unexpected tectonically active areas by geofluids occurrence” which introduced the monitoring of geofluids in major active faults in Türkiye. In addition, this session also invited famous scholar Yuji Sano from Japan to give the talk named “Groundwater helium anomaly related to inland earthquake in Japan”. These presentations attracted wide attentions from the participants. The meeting also received extensive coverage from the local media.
IGCP-724 group always attached great importance to international participation. The success of this special session encourages us to continue promoting such activities and provoking more international cooperation in the field of earthquake forecasting.
