International Symposium on 6th February, 2023 Turkiye earthquakes under the initiative of IGCP-724 project was held
International Symposium on 6th February, 2023 Turkiye earthquakes under the initiative of IGCP-724 project organized by Institute of Earthquake Forecasting (IEF), China Earthquake Administration (CEA) and Hacettepe University (HU) was held on 2nd March, 2023.
Mr. Che, Director of the Division of Science, Technology and International Cooperation, CEA attended the symposium and delivered a speech. The symposium was moderated by Prof. Galip Yuce from HU, Prof. Li Ying, and Prof. Meng Guojie from IEF. A total of 10 experts from China, Turkiye, Italy and other countries exchanged the reports.
The symposium discussed the geological structure, geophysical and geochemical anomalies in the earthquake epicenter and adjacent areas, the investigation of surface rupture zone obtained by GF satellites, and the analysis of seismic damage characteristics of field engineering. "A Guidebook to Earthquake Scientific Investigation" was advertised, and the contents, procedures, methods and results exchange plan of the standardized earthquake scientific investigation in China were introduced. The meeting also discussed the future cooperation in seismological investigation and scientific researches.
The International Symposium attracted 2,200 researchers from China, Turkiye, Italy, Iran, Greece, Spain, Germany and Taiwan Province of China. The workshop report will be shared with researchers worldwide through the IGCP project website.
After the meeting, the “Final outcome and declaration of symposium on 2nd March, 2023” was written by several experts who participated the discussion. Meanwhile, the international cooperation with scientists in the field of geoscience and global strong earthquake analysis will be strengthened, implementing the IGCP project with high quality, absorbing the results of this conference and report to UNESCO timely.
